Choosing invoicing software as self-employed in Belgium

Choosing invoicing software starts with one test from the federal tax administration (the FOD): the software must be connected to the Peppol network and be able to both send and receive invoices. Price, monthly limit and language then decide what suits you. Each provider states these on its own page.

What must invoicing software do?

Invoicing software must be connected to Peppol and both send and receive invoices. The software page of the FOD Financiën / SPF Finances (the federal tax administration) says you need Peppol-connected software for that. The test also applies if you only invoice private persons: according to the FOD, you must still be able to receive your suppliers’ invoices, with a few exceptions the FOD names on the same page. For who the obligation applies to, see who must use Peppol; what changes in 2026 is in e-invoicing in Belgium. This article belongs to invoices and Peppol.

After that test you apply five criteria, in this order:

  1. Peppol: does the plan send and receive, and from which plan?
  2. The limit: how many invoices or documents per month does the plan count?
  3. The price as the provider writes it, with its VAT status and payment period.
  4. The language of the software and of the invoice.
  5. What the plan includes: quotes, recurring invoices, a bank link, access for your accountant.

The FOD’s list is an aid, not a quality mark. According to the FOD, a listing does not mean the FOD Financiën has assessed or certified anything, the FOD recommends no product or supplier, the provider is responsible for its own details and the list is not exhaustive. On its page of 23 May 2025 it already counts more than 250 applications.

Which programs can a self-employed person in Belgium choose, and what does each state itself?

Eight programs — Accountable, Billit, e-Boekhouden.be, EenvoudigFactureren, onFact, Silvasoft, Teamleader One and WeFact — state a price and a Peppol line for a self-employed person on their own pages; where a page is silent, it says “not stated”. They are the products Belgian searchers name, in alphabetical order and read on 12 October 2026. The free routes of Doccle, B2Brouter, Let’s Peppol and KBC are in Peppol invoicing: free options; the FOD’s list holds more programs, but is not exhaustive. Programs whose page read shows no price are not in the tables.

Table A sets plan, price and limit side by side.

Program Plan Price as stated Limit Includes Source
Accountable Facturatie Plus €9.90 per month excl. VAT, on an annual subscription unlimited invoices on web and mobile Peppol via web and mobile, quotes, instalment invoices, recurring invoices, one bank account Accountable — prices

e-Boekhouden.be Freelancer €9.95 per month excl. VAT (list price; the page also shows a 50% offer), per VAT number, cancellable monthly unlimited invoicing; 240 entries per financial year invoices and quotes, bookkeeping e-Boekhouden.be — prices

Teamleader One calls Teamleader Focus its bigger sibling. The page of Teamleader Focus calculates the price per user with a script and a discount; it is therefore not in the table.

Table B sets Peppol and languages side by side: what the provider writes itself, what it registered with the FOD and which languages its menu shows.

Program Peppol on the provider’s page FOD list: sending / receiving / Peppol first Languages per the FOD list Languages in the provider’s menu
Accountable Peppol in every subscription; unlimited e-invoices sent yes / yes / yes nl, fr, en nl, fr, en
Billit sending and receiving invoices via Peppol, included in every paid subscription yes / yes / yes nl, fr, de, en nl (België), fr (Belgique), en, de
e-Boekhouden.be Freelancer: receiving and sending; Standaard: receiving only not on the list of 26 June 2026 not applicable nl (België); fr not stated
EenvoudigFactureren Peppol from Peppol Inbox; a cross in the free plan yes / yes / yes nl, fr, en page in Dutch; invoices in other languages (French, English, German) from Pro in the plan table; interface not stated
onFact sending and receiving via Peppol, also in the free plan yes / yes / yes nl, fr, de, en nl, fr (enFact)
Silvasoft sending from €8.95 per month, according to its Peppol page; receiving not stated yes / yes / yes nl, en nl; fr not stated
Teamleader One Peppol: sending and receiving e-invoices yes / yes / yes two entries: nl, fr, de, en and nl, fr, en nl (België), fr (Belgique), en
WeFact Peppol on Small, Start and Plus yes / yes / yes nl, en nl

The FOD columns show what each provider registered itself: the FOD does not check it. “Peppol first” is the name of a column in that file; the pages read do not explain the term, so the table only reproduces the provider’s answer. The data comes from the file of 26 June 2026. e-Boekhouden.be is not in that file; that says something about the file of that date, not about the product.

Which software suits which self-employed person?

Which software suits you depends on three things you know in advance: how many invoices you send per month, whether you want your bookkeeping in the same program and which language your clients read.

  • Few invoices per month. According to its page, onFact’s free plan allows 3 sales invoices per month, with sending and receiving through Peppol. EenvoudigFactureren states 5 invoices per month for Peppol Inbox, Billit 25 documents per month and WeFact 100 invoices per month for Start 100.
  • Invoices and bookkeeping in the same program. Accountable states the plan Boekhouding, €19.90 per month excl. VAT on an annual subscription. e-Boekhouden.be allows 240 entries per financial year with Freelancer, and Silvasoft prices Bookkeeping separately, at €13.95 per month excl. VAT.
  • Quotes, projects and client management next to the invoice. Teamleader One offers invoices and quotes for self-employed people; Teamleader Focus is the fuller suite, in which, according to the page, the Grow and Flow plans also receive Peppol invoices. onFact Premium adds work orders, tasks, calendar, projects and time tracking.
  • More than one language, or an accountant who needs access. The languages are in table B. According to their own pages, your accountant gets free access with Accountable, Billit, e-Boekhouden.be and onFact.
  • Annual contract or month by month. Teamleader One works only with annual contracts, Accountable states its price on an annual subscription (a monthly subscription also exists) and EenvoudigFactureren takes out a subscription per year; e-Boekhouden.be writes cancellable monthly.

Free plans exist, with their limits. onFact’s free plan has the limit of 3 sales invoices per month, and Accountable’s free plan is, according to its page, available only through the mobile app, with unlimited receiving through Peppol. EenvoudigFactureren’s free plan has a cross against Peppol in its own plan table and is therefore not a free Peppol route. The free routes and their limits are in Peppol invoicing: free options.

How do you check and test software before you pay?

Look the software up on the FOD’s list and read what it registered for sending and receiving, read the provider’s price page for VAT and payment period, and use the trial period. If the software is on the list, the FOD says: check that it allows both sending and receiving, and if not, choose an additional software application. If it is not on the list, ask the supplier whether integration is planned.

The FOD writes that it recommends no product or software supplier and adds no prices, because they often change. None of the FOD pages read names a duty to be on the list. On a price page you read whether VAT is stated, the payment period, whether it is an annual contract, the limit and from which plan Peppol is included. That the software registers you on Peppol is covered in registering on Peppol, and what an access point (a Peppol service provider) is, in Peppol access point.

Each provider states its trial period itself:

Program Trial period as stated
Accountable “Probeer gratis” (try for free); number of days not stated; 30-day money-back guarantee on all subscriptions
Billit 15 days free, no credit card needed
e-Boekhouden.be 14 days free and without obligation; according to the page it is free for the first 15 months of your business
EenvoudigFactureren first 30 days free, no credit card needed
onFact 14 days free
Silvasoft 30 days, no automatic renewal
Teamleader One 14 days free, no credit card needed
WeFact first 30 days free, without obligations

Ask each provider one question in writing: does this plan send and receive via Peppol, and from which plan? Keep the answer.

What if you only invoice private persons?

The obligation to invoice through Peppol applies when both parties have a Belgian VAT number, so invoices to private persons fall outside it; even so, a VAT payer must be able to receive suppliers’ invoices. For both duties the FOD names a few exceptions on the same page. According to the same FOD page, small businesses in the exemption scheme are also covered by the obligation, and it does not apply to transactions with a party that has no VAT duty.

A PDF invoice may therefore remain possible for a private client. What a Peppol invoice is, is in Peppol invoice, and what changed in 2026, in e-invoicing in Belgium.

BravoLisa, our own product, makes PDF invoices for private persons and clients abroad and sends or receives nothing through Peppol. For a client who is a Belgian VAT payer, you need one of the programs above.

Frequently asked questions

Which invoicing software suits a self-employed person in Belgium?

It depends on your number of invoices, your bookkeeping and the language of your clients; there is no single winner. The FOD sets one test: the software must be connected to Peppol and both send and receive invoices. Then look at the monthly limit, the price with its VAT status and what the plan includes.

Which invoicing software works with Peppol?

Accountable, Billit, e-Boekhouden.be, EenvoudigFactureren, onFact, Silvasoft, Teamleader One and WeFact write about Peppol on their own pages. Seven are also on the FOD's list, as the provider registered itself. The FOD certifies nothing: check yourself that your plan includes both sending and receiving.

How much does invoicing software cost a self-employed person?

It differs by provider and plan, and each price is on the provider's own page. EenvoudigFactureren shows €4.49 per month excl. VAT for Peppol Inbox, Billit €7.50 per month and Teamleader One €99 per year. Watch VAT and the payment period: Billit and Teamleader One do not state VAT.

Is there free invoicing software with Peppol?

According to its own page, onFact's free plan allows 3 sales invoices per month, with sending and receiving through Peppol. EenvoudigFactureren's free plan has a cross against Peppol in its plan table. Other free routes and their limits are in the article on Peppol invoicing.

Does my invoicing software have to be on the FOD's list?

The FOD calls its list an aid: providers register themselves, a listing is not a certification and the list is not exhaustive. If your software is not on it, ask the provider whether integration is planned. The pages read state no duty to be on the list.

The choice narrows once you know how many invoices you send per month and in which language your clients read. The rest is on the provider’s page.
