You know your trade. It's the paperwork around it that weighs.

“Receipts in my coat pocket, invoices in my inbox.”

One photo or one PDF, and the expense is recorded with its supporting document.

Recording an expense

“Who has paid me? How much is still outstanding?”

Every invoice with its payment: you see straight away who still has to pay.

“Am I still under the exemption? And what do I declare?”

Your revenue for the year always in view, and Lisa explaining the rules in plain words.

Expenses

One photo, and the expense is recorded.

Take a photo of a receipt from the petrol station or the stationer's, upload the PDF of a purchase invoice or forward it from your inbox. Lisa reads the supplier, date, amount and VAT, and suggests a category.

You check, you confirm, and the supporting document stays with the expense. Your personal income tax is on your profit, so a business expense with its document counts. If you are not under the small-business exemption, you also see the VAT you can deduct.

  • Receipts and purchase invoices, from a photo, a PDF or an email
  • Supplier, date, amount and VAT read for you
  • The same file is never recorded twice

Invoices and payments

An invoice in a minute. And you see when it's paid.

Create your invoice with your client and your services, with VAT or with the small-business exemption note. BravoLisa keeps it and sends it as a PDF. Upload your bank statement: its lines become payments, and you see which invoices are still outstanding.

Since 1 January 2026, an invoice to a Belgian client registered for VAT must be a structured e-invoice sent through Peppol, under the small-business exemption too. BravoLisa does not send or receive through Peppol yet: its PDF invoice is for private clients and clients abroad. With a VAT number, you must also be able to receive Peppol invoices, through another provider.

Lisa AI

Ask in your own words. Lisa answers with your figures.

Lisa knows the rules of VAT, the small-business exemption, personal income tax and social contributions, and she reads your invoices, expenses and payments. Ask “am I still under the exemption?” and she answers with what you have invoiced this year, not with an article.

Write to her in the language you prefer, French or English included. From her answer you go straight to the invoices the figures come from.

Am I still under the small-business exemption this year?

For now, yes. Since January you have invoiced € 19.600,00. The small-business VAT exemption applies up to €25,000 of revenue a year: you have € 5.400,00 left.

Tax returns

When the return is due, the figures are already there.

Since the start of the year you see what you have invoiced and what is still outstanding. Under the small-business exemption, ask Lisa how much room you have left up to €25,000 of revenue.

BravoLisa does not prepare your VAT return or your personal income tax return, and files nothing through Intervat or Tax-on-web: you fill them in from figures already in order, each with its supporting document.

  • Every figure with its supporting document

Frequently asked questions

Is BravoLisa really free?

Yes. In Belgium BravoLisa offers the Free plan: you create invoices as PDF, record your payments and expenses, and Lisa reads your documents and answers your questions, at no cost and with no credit card.

Will BravoLisa do my VAT return and personal income tax?

Not yet in Belgium. BravoLisa does not calculate your social contributions or tax prepayments, and prepares no VAT return, annual client listing or personal income tax return. It keeps in order the invoices, payments and expenses those returns start from, each with its supporting document. Returns for Belgium are planned.

Can I invoice through Peppol with BravoLisa?

Not yet. BravoLisa creates and records your sales and purchase invoices and sends your invoices as PDF, but it does not send or receive through Peppol: that is planned. Since 1 January 2026 a structured e-invoice through Peppol is mandatory between Belgian VAT-registered businesses, the small-business exemption included, and every business with a VAT number must be able to receive one. A PDF invoice stays valid for private clients and clients abroad. For Peppol you therefore need another provider for now; efactuur.belgium.be lists the solutions.

Does BravoLisa replace my bookkeeper?

No. BravoLisa is software with an AI bookkeeping assistant, not an accountant or a tax adviser. Lisa applies the rules to your documents and shows where the figures come from, but she can make mistakes and gives no tax advice: for your own situation, speak to a certified accountant or tax adviser. If you already have one, you bring them documents in order.

Which language can I write to Lisa in?

Whichever you prefer: Dutch, French, English or another language. Lisa answers in the same language and explains the Belgian rules in plain words.

Can I start before I become self-employed?

Yes. The account is free: create it whenever you like, even while you are still an employee, and record your documents from your first day as self-employed, as a main job or alongside one.
